Sponsorship
Sponsoring one of our fundraising events is a great way to reach households in northern Durham Region and to demonstrate your support for the community.
We have two signature events each year:
-
Gimme Shelter Gala Dinner
This elegant evening offers many sponsorship opportunities starting at $500. We are also grateful for donations of items and gift certificates for our auction tables. Contact Amy at fundraising@animal-shelter.ca today to learn more!
-
In the Ruff Golf Tournament
Our In The Ruff tournament is held every year at the gorgeous Sunnybrae Golf Course in Port Perry (map). Registration is done through our CanadaHelps page: here. Sponsorship opportunities are also available! Contact Inrgid at ingrid-hilyer@coldwellbanker.ca today to learn more!
We also need donations of goods and services that can help us offset our operating costs. Donations and discounts are gratefully accepted for meeting space, storage, printing, advertising, display equipment.
See below to review our policy on tax receipts for gifts in kind or sponsorships.
About Charitable Tax Receipts
The New Animal Shelter for Uxbridge-Scugog (NASUS) is a registered charity and follows the guidelines and regulations set out by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) with respect to tax receipts.
All cash donations of $20 or more that are received from individuals or corporations will be issued a charitable receipt for tax purposes. Online donations made through Canada Helps will receive the receipt electronically at the time the donation is made. Receipts for donations made by cash or cheque directly to the organization may take a couple of weeks as we are a volunteer-run group. Our treasurer and directors are authorized to issue receipts on behalf of NASUS. Our other volunteers are not able to do so.
Under CRA regulations, we are not permitted to issue charitable tax receipts for sponsorships, donations of goods or services, gift certificates or “in-kind” gifts. To do so is a violation of regulations and could compromise our status as a registered charity. To find out more about the rules regarding these types of donations, please visit the Canada Revenue Agency website .
In some cases, a portion of the cost of participation in a NASUS fundraising event may be eligible for a receipt. This is determined in consultation with our tax counsel for each event, and will be clearly indicated at the time of purchase.
We are happy to issue regular business receipts for all transactions, and our volunteers endeavour to do so as quickly as possible.
If you require further information about charitable tax receipt guidelines, please contact the Canada Revenue Agency directly.
